Joe Bidermann was born in Stuttgart, Germany where
he spent the first 33 years of his life before immigrating
to the South Shore of Nova Scotia in 1996. He has college
degrees in Early Childhood Education, and Environmental
Science, which introduced him to horticulture and ornamental
landscaping.
After working for different landscaping companies in
Germany for several years Joe started Joe Bidermann
Landscaping Design in 1994 and has continued this business
since his immigration.
Early on in his career Joe became fascinated by the
combination of natural stone and plants, which is frequently
reflected in his designs.
Joe often gets inspired by the fascinating beauty of
nature.
Wherever suited and possible Joe uses native plant materials
in his designs.
Plants enthusiast and close friend Jamie Ellison has
joined Joe's team in 2006 and is involved in the plant
related aspect of Joe Bidermann Landscaping Design.
In 1999 he received an Award of Excellence for Workmanship
and Design, and in 2000 he was the winner in the Design/Build
category of Landscape Nova Scotia's Awards Of Excellence
Program.
A member of Landscape Nova Scotia since 1998, Joe served
as a director from 2000 until 2002, and continues to
be involved as a judge for the Awards of Excellence
Program. He is also a judge for the National Awards
of Excellence Program.
Joe has been Chair of the Association of Atlantic Landscape
Designers from 2004 -2006.
Joe is a frequent speaker at conferences, seminars
and workshops.
Joe became a Canadian Certified Horticultural Technician
(Installation) in 2004.
