Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification- Landscape New Brunswick

The Landscape Horticulture Training Institute is owned and operated by Landscape NB and has been operating since 2010. It's primary function is provide winter classroom instruction in support of the Landscape Horticulture apprenticeship program. The school is located in Sussex and employs instructors from the landscaping industry.

It is a 3 year program consisting of 6 weeks each year in the classroom and the rest of the year working in the field for a journeyperson.

The school is a member of the NB Association of Career Colleges, is registered with the Private Occupational Training Act, and is part of the Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour Apprenticeship program. Potential students must become indentured to a journeyman in the province to qualify for entry into the program. Much of the costs are covered through EI, as well as their wages. Also there is a significant cash incentive in place for those who successfully challenge each of the 3 block exams.

If you are considering a career in Horticulture, and have at least one season’s experience under your belt, this is the school for you. If you are an employer who wants to take advantage and have your staff receive winter training to upgrade their skill set, as well as receive tax breaks, then this is the school for you.

Dalhousie's Faculty of Agriculture is located on the Agricultural Campus just outside the Town of Truro, in the the village of Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. We're one hour from Halifax by car and only 40 minutes from the Halifax International Airport. Truro is the approximate geographic centre of Nova Scotia located on Cobequid Bay, the eastern-most inlet of the Bay of Fundy. The highest tides in the world occur in Cobequid Bay—some recorded at over 52 feet.

On May 20, 2011, the Province of Nova Scotia and Dalhousie University launched a process to merge Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) with Dalhousie University. The merger itself was effective September 1, 2012.

The two schools have had a close academic relationship for many years. NSAC degrees were jointly awarded by Dalhousie and NSAC was represented on the Dalhousie Senate. As Dalhousie's new Faculty of Agriculture, these and many ongoing research collaborations between faculty at both institutions will be built upon to benefit both communities.
